Camera stabilisation, Bluetooth and misc

So today i got my FTDI basic so i can program my MiniWii cards. One of the cards will be used as a camstab alone so i can use it on any multirotor, or plane,  i have since camstab on the multiwii is limited to max 4 motors. So if you have a Hexa you cant use multiwii to stabilisate the camera gimbal. Well that goes for the multiwii cards i have atleast, MiniWii by Jussi and Quadrino.

Here is the FTDI breakout board made by Sparkfun.

FTDI connected to the MiniWii board. I didnt want to solder the FTDI to the board ( because it would make it bigger ) so i added pins to it so i just connect it to the MiniWii and do my programming.

I also tried one of my Bluetooth adapters and it works like a charm. The BT adapter comes programmed at 9600baud and you need to change that to 115200 for it to work with MultiWii software.

HERE is a easy guide how to do it.

Here is a screenshot from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 connected to the MiniWii board. For those that doesnt know the BT ( bluetooth ) adapter makes it easy to change your setting on the multiwii board just by using your Android device with Multiwii software installed.

So back to the Camera stabilisation for abit :)

To get the CamStab working you need to change in the sketch that u then will upload to your MultiWii board.

Here i have enabled the Camstab option in the sketch.

And here is a screenshot of the GUI where i have enabled the camstab option.

And here is a short clip of the camstab. Still needs adjusting in software but you get the idea :)

Thats it for now :) Cya

MiniWii IC3

Today i got another MiniWii board and also a new ic3 for the first one since it wasent working properly. I desoldered the old one and soldered the new one in place and it works :)

It was by far the smallest components i have soldered but happy i could do it.

                                                                   Old and new IC3

                                                               Old one desoldered

                                                                New one in place

Voltage checked and is working. When the old ic3 was in place i had same voltage on the 5v as i put into the FC, in this case 6v. But now its all good :)

Both soldered and ready for sketch and then setup in GUI as soon as i get the breakoutboard from Sparkfun i ordered yesterday.

Heavy Lift Hexa

Here is a papermodel of the Hexa I will build soon. Its 922mm motor to motor.

The small object u see in the middle is a MiniQuad that i have aswell.

And here you have a SolidWorks picture of the current look of the Hexa. May be some small changes to it before it gets done. Cameramount/Landinggear is made to hold a DSLR camera.

I have ordered the Carbonfibre arms for it and they are from a Trex 600 so 21.5mm OD. If i feel that the quality of them is ok i will order spare ones. If quality isnt good i will order better ones :)

And some OT

I have ordered a HK KK V2 board aswell just for the fun of it. Also have another MiniWii card comming in next week.

Parts

Got some more parts in the mail today.

MiniWii
5030 props
6030 props
2mm prop adapters

Now i just need to solder the pins to the MiniWii board and replace all the o-rings on my Y6. DOnt like the o-rings since they can cause unballance and prop adapters are much better.

Heavy Lift Hexa

Have thought about a Heavy lift hexa for awhile now. My goal is to lift a DSLR camera of some sort but not deicided yet.

Frame and cameramount/Landinggear will be custombuilt carbonfibre with around 850mm motor to motor with 16-22mm booms.

I might controll the camera with a Blip Switch from Blip.com.au .

Everything will be controlled from my Futaba 8FG that is upgraded to 8FGS ( Super ) with firmware so it now has 14 channels.

I have also looked at a few frames that are ready but not sure yet. One that i have looked at and that i like is a XXL Foldable Hexa frame from Maximus-Racing in France.

Motors will either be Avroto 2814-11 Short shaft or Tiger Motor MT2814-10  . Will most likely be using 12" props on 3 or 4s lipo.

Flightcontroller for the Hexa will be the DJI Wookong-M and some 40A Speed Controllers.

More to come soon.

Thats the size of it in paper :) The small Quad in the middle is a DiaLFonZo miniquad :)
